VIETNAM National symphony Orchestra

The Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) was established by Decision Number 79/VH-QD on June 14, 1984 under the Ministry of Culture (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism). During its development, VNSO gradually gained remarkable achievements significantly. Since the past decade, the orchestra has improved its performance quality, not only to be recognized and highly appreciated by the audience, the press, musical critics, and colleagues in Vietnam but also to be commended by other countries via concert tours.
The VNSO today performs almost 40 concerts each year with a diverse repertoire of classical, romantic, and contemporary music. It performs musical pieces not only by Vietnamese composers but also by world-renowned composers, including Mahler Cycle, Beethoven Cycle, Mozart Cycle, Brahms Cycle, Schubert Cycle, Bruckner Cycle, etc., under the baton of many distinguished conductors with great contributions to the growth of the VNSO, such as Honna Tetsuji (Music Director of the VNSO since 2009), Colin Metters, Fukumura Yoshikazu, Lê Phi Phi, Jonas Alber, Marc Kissozy, and more. They have also performed with renowned soloists such as People’s Artist Dang Thai Son, Tsutsumi Tsuyoshi, Tamás Varga, Goto Ryu, Imai Nobuko, Bui Cong Duy, Přemysl Vojta, Stefan Schilli, Yamashita Yosuke, Rainer Honeck, and so on.
